On 18 May 2026, a delegation from Guangzhou Data Group Co., Ltd. and the Guangzhou Artificial Intelligence Convergence Empowerment Centre visited the Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at South China Normal University. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on joint laboratory construction and industry-education integration. Chair of Aberdeen Institute Zhang Changhai, Vice Dean Shen Yingshan, ,Vice Dean Chai Shaoming and Vice Dean Chen Huan attended the meeting.
As a wholly state-owned enterprise, Guangzhou Data Group focuses on computing power operation and public data development, serving as a cornerstone for Guangzhou's digital government and smart city initiatives. Zhang Changhai welcomed the delegation and gave berief introduction of Aberdeen Institute. Both parties reached consensus on a range of collaborative initiatives, including the co-establishment of an Embodied Intelligence Joint Laboratory, student internship programmes, and joint research projects. Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Institute's teaching and research facilities. This visit laid a solid foundation for a long-term partnership between the two sides, poised to inject new momentum into the cultivation of AI talent for the Greater Bay Area.
