Aberdeen Institute Held the First Academic Committee Meeting in 2023



The first Academic Committee meeting in 2023 was held successfully on June 16th. Academic Committee members from SCNU and UoA jointly reviewed and commented on agenda items including the minute of the previous meeting, Committee remits and compositions, Joint Institute academic group report, academic campus exchange, graduation thesis, 2023 student progression, 2023-2024 UoA in-country teaching schedule and student English performance.

As the new appointments and position takeover by both universities, it was agreed that Professor Steve Tucker, the Dean for Quality Assurance and Enhancement, took over from VP Ruth Taylor as the new UoA chair. Professor Yuncheng Jiang, Dean of the School of Computer Science, took over from VP Weihua Ma as the new SCNU chair. The Committee thanked Prof Ruth Taylor for her outstanding contribution to the JI’s academics and quality assurance and enhancement. The Committee also welcomed Prof. Aladdin Ayesh and Prof. Shaoming Chai as new AC members.
